A Sad Day In Light Of Congresswoman Gifford’s Plight

The demothugs (I say “demothugs” because they are abusing language in order to create a false caricature) and lefties have raced to make Arizona’s shooting of Rep. Gifford into a major political event in order to curb free speech and ban weapons, contrary to what our Constitution says.

We now have people calling for restrictions on “symbols” and “incendiary” language and calls to ban hi-cap clips, AGAIN.

A people who succumbs to this rhetoric and these knee-jerk reactions has truly lost their way intellectually and will soon lose their freedoms and liberties – something that myself and other commentators have warned Americans about for years.

Until now, too few heeded this warning and scoffed at our collective warnings as fantasy that wont come true, but here we are listening to Democrats calling for limits on free speech as predicted.

Government Bailout & Seizure Of American Journalism?

Folks, let’s face it, the last 10 days or so has seen quite a bit of rotten news and ever more dangerous ideas emanating from President Obama and the Democrats.  I have been so stunned by these developments (this topic, including the idea that Obama take over BP, for instance) that I have found it difficult to focus on any single item for my writings here. 

Instead, I have been working on a variety of topics that I will publish in the coming weeks, which I hope will bring readers some new intellectual challenge and present a fresh perspective on issues of the day.

So, with that in mind let us consider the now heretofore poisonous concept of our federal government taking over journalism as proposed by the Federal Trade Commission.  Now, keep in mind that this isnt the blatant goal of these proposals but that will be the outcome of these ideas in the long run as government seeks to implement the “Fairness Doctrine” by fiat in an effort to “save” journalism.

How will these government bureucrats accomplish the implementation of the “Fairness Doctrine” and ultimately take over journalism by default?

For the answer to this, we must harken back to what President Obama said during his 2008 campaign… redistribute wealth through the tax code to fund the underdogs by taking money from those news agencies who are successful and giving it to those who are not (i.e. those who cannot compete).   Now, zoom past 2008 & Obama’s rhetoric and stare back down the annals of history – what you will see are government attempts to control information and what ideas “The People” are allowed to see.  The USSR did it.   China does this.  North Korea does this.  Middle Eastern nations do it.  Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro and their friends in various marxist-leaning nations in South America are also doing it.  In fact, any government that is afraid for itself and its survival at the hands of an informed citizenry does exactly what these nations have done and are now doing to their people.

And, wherever this government control of information and ideas is perpetrated we find tyranny and corruption to be alive and actually thriving.

Ultimately, what you will see are millions of faceless individuals who were (and are) enslaved by these supposed governmental benefactors of society, who also pretend to be perveyors of good will and so-called guarantors of equality all in the name of democracy.  

But which democracy, I wonder?   What version of democracy – one that is based on mob rule and supposed “popular vote” and the all-to-frequent ignoring of the will of The People when social justice or “good intentions” are the motivations for overruling the “ruled?”

Ladies & Gentlemen, Obama and his merry band of “do-gooders” are simply ignorant in their collective quest to create a fantasy utopia here in America, or these people are true believers in neo-marxist ideals and philosophy who are so sold out to their goals that they have been blinded to the lessons of history and good common sense.

Immigration Quick-Hit: Obama Tries To Block Arizona’s New Immigration Law

In a stunning move by the Obama Administration, ICE is saying they will not accept / process illegals brought to them by state authorities in Arizona.

In short, Obama is telling America “we wont do our job anymore” if you dare do something we dont like.

So, what will Arizona do?  I think they should set up their own deportation system and kick the illegals back into Mexico instead of playing games with the Feds and catering to their lack of desire to DO THEIR JOB!!!!!!!!!!!

Folks, this is simply more evidence that Obama and his lefty demogogues in the Federal Govt need to be exited from politics altogether, starting this November.  I’m sick of these games and I hope you are too.

Bad News Just Keeps Coming

I hate to be a killjoy for my readers, however there are times when there is so much bad news and so many disturbing events that keep pushing their way to the front of the line that I feel compelled to draw attention to these things so that people are aware, and thus informed.

Today is one of those days.

At the top of the list comes more news about Obama’s continued failures on international diplomacy and military concerns – news that is of huge importance since Iran is VERY CLOSE to acquiring nuclear weapons to supplement their ability to deliver them. 

Thus, today Americans were confronted with a belligerant Iran yet again… this time on our own shores… with Ahmadinejad accusing America of nuclear terrorism and perpetrating a littany of so-called “wrongs” during his visit to the United Nations this past weekend.  Apparently American, French and British delegates left the chambers but what confuses me most is, why is this nutjob allowed to even step foot on American soil given his rhetoric, threats and blatant disregard for human rights?

What’s more, Iran was admitted to a womans human rights panel within the UN last week without a peep from America – why?  Isn’t that both interesting and disturbing given Iran’s record on such issues, not to mention the government-inspired tyranny and abuse of its own citizens that we periodically hear about?

And now comes news that our Armed Forces are not allowed to fire on Iranian forces even when they break no-fly zones above and near our forces both on land and at sea, all thanks to Obama and his capricious band of malcontents in the White House.  Given the tensions in the Gulf region and the continued barrage of threats from Iran to America, Israel and allies this is a dangerous game that Obama is playing.

What’s more, the Obama Administration continues to skitter along a path that will allow Iran to actually acquire nuclear weapons simply because Obama is too weak and fearful to use the power that America has to stop it.   Should any nuclear devices go off resulting in the murder innocents in the future, Obama and his troupe of idealogues will be to blame for allowing Iran to get nuclear weapons in the first place… simply by doing nothing about it.

In other news, we see that inflation is now at 2% for last month which I believe is the herald of things to come in the months ahead as the Feds lavish spending & mountainous debt, loose money policy and massive cash outlays to state and local governments and “too big to fail” private entities begins to make an impact.  In short, I believe we can expect Jimmy Carter-level interest rates and a corresponding risk of stagflation or a truly monumental shift downward (depression) in our economy within the next 1-2 years.

Plan – that’s all I can say.

Domestically, we see that the FTC is about to be given greater authority over the internet due to a provision that was slipped into the new Wall Street regulation overhaul now before Congress.   Thanks to Democrats, the FTC will have broad new powers to make rules about the Internet, so my question is, “why do they need this power and why do proponents have to secretly slip the provision into an unrelated bill?”  Mark my words, folks – we will see a raft of offensive rules and power grabs by the FTC in the next 3-18 months, and I dare say that Americans will likely be harmed and offended by them.

Next for the FTC power-grab, the offenses to Americans and our health rises another few notches with the introduction (by Henry Waxman D-CA) into the same financial overhaul bill, language that is sure to harm (and raise costs) American’s ability to acquire nutritional supplements and rely on producers of said supplements to transmit third party information about the benefits of ingredients in their products.  What many Americans dont know is, that the FTC and FDA have a long history of near-hate for natural food and vitamin producers who have to defend themselves against threats, fines and harassment by these agencies.

And let’s not forget ObamaCare and the LATEST NEWS out that it isn’t good, not to mention it’s unconstitutional.

And finally, we hear that Obama attacked FREE SPEECH at a graduation ceremony saying that those who bad-mouth government are bad and that they are “attacking us.”  Apparently, Obama has zero clue about the anti-government proclevities of the American public since the founding of this nation.  Such distrust is in our social fabric – it is an American value whether Obama and Demorats like it or not.

The abuse of federal power and greater limits upon our freedom to choose for ourselves is ever closer, folks.  We are seeing the expansion of the soft tyranny known as the Obama Administration and power-mad Demorats in Congress.  They have ultimate power now and we are seeing just what they do with that power when they have it – they run wild and abuse American’s freedoms in their quest to expand the role of the federal government in our lives.

Just remember, all that power and all the “good intentions” of the Democrats is for your own good – they think so and have told us so… so, that makes it so… so to speak.

Crush the Demorats next November and let’s give Obama a push out the door in 2012 while we’re at it.

Obama Fixes Jobs Numbers – Gets Caught

Just when we thought that the Obama Administration couldnt get any more mundane and desperate, out comes this wonderful gem of a story highlighting how the White House has manipulated the employment numbers to “fix” their lying claim about “jobs saved or created” from their Spendiculous bills.

On Jobs, Dems Get It Wrong – Always.

Democrats waste a lot of time talking about jobs and creating them.  Why?  While reading THIS ARTICLE, it becomes clear to anyone with a pulse that Democrats desire to pay for roads, school building projects and artificially propping up state and local government budgets as a means for spurring economic activity are based upon false assumptions.

What’s their false assumption?  That a “trickle down” effect will occur (remember that Dems have ridiculed Reagan’s trick-down economics – which worked by the way) in spending on roads and government services somehow.

In short, Democrats think that sustained economic growth will happen by expanding government, an entity that produces nothing in and of itself like private businesses do.  In fact, government is a drain on the economy because it takes from the pockets of consumers and bank accounts of businesses  a variety of fees and taxes that are better used in business expansion, hiring, investment and starting of new businesses. 

Private business builds wealth – government erodes wealth.

This is something Democrats (i.e. leftists/progressives) just cannot seem to get their minds around.  And somehow, these same people seem to think that taxes actually help create economic activity using some interesting intellectual gymnastics and subtle syllogisms to pretend they have a legitimate economic belief.

If someone can explain to me where I am wrong, I would sure like to see how the innane thinking of these progressive leftists make any sense at all.

The Truth About Social Security

Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced Social Security (the FICA line on your pay stub & W2 form).  He promised:

1) That participation in SS would be completely volunary.

It is no longer voluntary

2) That participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual incomes into SS.

It is now nearly 8% on the first $109,000 of income

3) That the money participants elected to put into the SS program would be deductible from their income for tax purposes each year.

It is no longer tax deductible

4) That the money participants put into the so-called “Trust Fund”  would only be used for Social Security and not be co-mingled with the general fund or other govt programs.

Under President Johnson (a Democrat) the money was moved to the General Fund and spent.

5) That the annuity payments to retirees would NEVER BE TAXED as income.

Under Clinton & Gore, up to 85% of your SS can now be taxed

 

Some Questions & Answers:

Q:  Which Party took Social Security monies out of the Trust Fund and put these funds into the General Fund so that Congress could spend it?
A:  Democrat President Lyndon Johnson and the Democrat-controlled House & Senate.

Q: Which Party eliminated the income tax deduction fro SS (FICA) withholding?
A:  The Democrat Party.

Q: Which Party started taxing SS annuities?
A:  The Democrats, with Al Gore casting the “tie-breaking” vote as President of the Senate, while Vice President of The United States.

Q: Which Party decided to start giving SS payments to immigrants?
A:  Democrat President Jimmy Carter and the Democrats in Congress.  It was they who authorized immigrants to receive SS payments at age 65 even though they never paid one dime into the program.

NOTE:  It is interesting that, after violating their promises about SS on multiple fronts, Democrats have the nerve to tell Americans that Republicans want to do bad things to The People.

ObamaCare – The Aftermath Begins

I am still bewildered by the thinking that pervades the American Left (aka Progressives) who think that The People are entitled to the services that individuals in the healthcare field provide on a fee for service basis.

Nowhere is this so-called “right” enshrined in the Constitution, the Federalist Papers or early American history.  It is a fabrication of the statist progressives of America and their marxist cohorts in Europe who think government should control these services.  Somehow, in their minds it is as if the government is doing the providing, when the fact is it is individuals who sacrifice their time and money to gain the knowledge in order to practice medicine.

So, I have to ask again simply from a logical standpoint – “how is it that people believe people are entitled to the services an individual provides on a fee-for-service basis, and how can these people be morally right in forcing healthcare practitioners to provide these services in the manner government proscribes, for the fees government dictates and engage in the business of healthcare only in ways some bureaucrat deems appropriate?”

Does anyone have a logical, legally and morally based answer to this question?  I know the leftist do not.

I can provide A VERY LONG LAUNDRY LIST of reports and articles outlining the problems of government-run healthcare in Canada, the UK, Europe and elsewhere.  The lack of care, the rationing, the absence of cutting-edge treatments, limits on access to the newest treatments and medicines are rampant in these nations IF YOU ARE VERY SICK.   If you only get a cold, break a finger or something minor these systems work very well.   However, for the seriously ill in those nations the numbers of people who come to America for cutting edge treatment and easy access to healthcare further emphasize the troubles visited upon citizens subject to socialized medicine.

And lets not talk about added economy-busting taxes that are coming….

Not only will America experience the same troubles as Canada et. al., but America will likely encounter a doctor shortage similar to nations who have adopted socialized medicine as their preferred modality to delivering healthcare.  ARTICLE

The People did not want what the Democrats forced on us and I do not think the Democrats will survive the next few elections because their nanny-statist beliefs require progressives to believe “they know better” than The People about how to handle their lives.  I hope people wake up to this reality:  anyone promising to make life better for you with gifts (services and funds) is seeking power and notoriety only for themselves.  Such will destroy this nation and The People, in the end.
